How does an electric storage heater work?
Electric storage heaters generate heat using electricity and store it in a core, typically made from heavy clay bricks.
Older models feature input and output dials to manage heating. The input dial controls how much electricity the heater uses overnight—the higher the setting, the more energy is used, and the more heat is stored. The output dial manages how quickly this stored heat is released. If the output is set too high, the stored heat may run out before the end of the day.

Some units also include a convector heater, usually visible as a grill at the top of the heater. This provides an extra burst of warmth when needed. However, try not to rely on it regularly, as it’s often more economical to make the most of the cheaper nighttime electricity.
